Evil is Onboard in The Last Voyage of the Demeter

Based on a single chilling chapter from Bram Stoker’s classic novel Dracula, The Last Voyage of the Demeter tells the terrifying story of the merchant ship Demeter, which was chartered to carry private cargo—fifty unmarked wooden crates—from Carpathia to London. Strange events befall the doomed crew as they attempt to survive the ocean voyage, stalked each night by a merciless presence onboard the ship. When the Demeter finally arrives off the shores of England, it is a charred, derelict wreck. There is no trace of the crew.

The dark twists and turns of this trailer have produced an excitement within me that I almost can’t express. The Last Voyage of the Demeter gives off the essence of Stoker’s classic written word. The gothic themes and interest in both the horrors of Dracula and his intriguing powers are evident in the trailer. The film is produced by Brad Fischer, Mike Medavoy, and Arnold Messer. There haven’t been a lot of discussions in-between the bursts of information released on the film. I went into watching the trailer fearful of there being an adorable dog present on the ship. As a horror fan, I should know better but I was becoming more concerned for the dog rather than the child clearly present in front of my eyes. I’m reading up on Dracula and headed to the theaters on August 11th…are you?
