Quotes From The Wizards of the Coast And Marvel Presidents

As part of Wizards of the Coast’s announcement, Cynthia Williams had this to say:

We are extremely proud to collaborate with Marvel to bring its iconic characters to fans around the world in new ways […] These tentpole sets will build on the tradition of incorporating beloved fan-favorite characters and elements from world-class brands into Magic: The Gathering.

Cynthia Williams, President of Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro Digital Gaming

Meanwhile, the optimism of Wizards of the Coast echoes from Marvel’s President, Dan Buckley:

Trading cards have always been a part of Marvel’s DNA, so this collaboration takes that experience to a whole new level […] With the depth that our storytelling and characters bring to the table, we can’t wait for fans to see how the Marvel Universe translates seamlessly into gameplay within these Magic: The Gathering products and sets for years to come.

Thoughts on the Magic: The Gathering Marvel Crossover

This is fortuitous for Wizards of the Coast, as Marvel Studios declines for Disney partly due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. Disney, known in the TCG circles as the force behind Lorcana alongside Ravensburger, is surely displeased. However, Disney’s loss is Wizards’ gain. Now, they get to share in the Marvel IPs that for years have captivated peoples’ hearts and minds.

According to a press release, the collaboration will hit shelves no sooner than 2025. In the meantime, we have a slew of other Magic: The Gathering releases to look forward to. These include Murders at Karlov Manor, Outlaws of Thunder Junction, Bloomburrow, and Duskmourn. Plus, we have other Universes Beyond releases to look forward to in Fallout, Assassin’s Creed, and Final Fantasy. We simply can’t wait!
