It’s almost time to Let it Rip! On Tuesday, May 14th, Hasbro announced plans to release their Beyblade X crossover with their Transformers franchise. The two 2-bey sets, each styled after famous (or infamous) Robots in Disguise, collectively release in July. The sets are currently exclusively available for preorder on Amazon.com or $24.99 each. Let’s take a closer look at what they contain!
Hasbro’s Beyblade X Press Release Notes
According to the press release put out by Hasbro today:
Experience the thrill of the next generation of BEYBLADE stadiums, launchers and Tops: BEYBLADE X with the BEYBLADE X TRANSFORMERS Optimus Primal 3-60F and Starscream 3-80N Multipack Set which includes 2 right-spinning Tops and 2 launchers (Beystadium required, sold separately). Launch right into battle or reconfigure the interchangeable blade, ratchet, and bit of Tops in this TRANSFORMERS Collab Multipack with those of other BEYBLADE X Tops (sold separately) to create your own unsurpassable Bey. BEYBLADE X features the X-Celerator Gear System innovation to level-up your game. When the gear of a BEYBLADE X Top engages the rail of the Beystadium arena, it can super-accelerate into an Xtreme Dash rocketing it around the stadium. Bladers launch their Tops into fierce clashes against their opponent’s scoring points with each spin – first to score 4 points wins. Hasbro BEYBLADE toys with authentic Takara Tomy die-cast metal Tops make great kids gifts for boys and girls ages 8 and up.
A similar press release statement was put out regarding the Optimus Prime 4-60P Vs Megatron 4-80N Multipack. Both sets will retail at approximately $24.99 and will be made available this July.
How Does Hasbro’s Beyblade X Measure Up To Takara Tomy?
For the sake of those who are already well aware of Beyblade X thanks to the original manufacturer, Takara Tomy, and their continued support of the game, let’s recap what these Hasbro beys are like. To start, the Transformers beys are not just simply reskins of existing Beyblade X beys. Hasbro made new molds based on existing beys, but with a distinctly Transformers twist to them, for this release. Other than that, it can safely be said that they will perform similarly in these analogous ways:
- Optimus Prime 4-60P uses a blade similar to Knight Shield (also known as Helm Knight in other Hasbro releases)
- Megatron 4-80B uses a blade similar to Hells Scythe (also known as Scythe Incendio in other Hasbro releases)
- Optimus Primal 3-60F uses a blade similar to Shark Edge (also known as Keel Shark in other Hasbro releases)
- Starscream 3-80N uses a blade similar to Wizard Arrow (also known as Arrow Wizard in other Hasbro releases)
Also of note, Beyblade X fans across the globe who have had access to Hasbro’s beys can confirm that the beys have the same quality to Takara Tomy’s line. This is a welcome change from the previous eras of Beyblade, and fans can rest easy with this knowledge.
But Wait, There’s An App!
As a final point, Hasbro will release a Beyblade X app on June 1st, 2024. This app will be available for both iOS and Android devices. According to Hasbro, “Users can scan the BEYBLADE X TRANSFORMERS Tops to unlock rewards and keep track of their Beyblade Top collection in the “Beylocker.” The new BEYBLADE X app offers a variety of ways to earn digital rewards and users can take their battles on-the-go and play against other Bladers around the world.”
You can find Amazon’s preorder listings for the two sets here and here, for Optimus Primal Vs. Starscream, and Optimus Prime Vs. Megatron, respectively. We are especially excited for Hasbro’s Beyblade X releases to launch in North America and especially in the US. We will surely be covering this topic more as the launch day draws closer, so stay tuned in for more developments as they come!
