Screambox will stream Cube, a Japanese remake of the 1997 Canadian cult classic, on April 11 as a Screambox Original. It will also be available on VOD platforms the same day via Cinedigm and Bloody Disgusting.
Japan Remakes Cube for 2023 Audiences
A group of strangers wake up in a mysterious room inscribed with an unfamiliar code. Looking for ways to escape, they discover the room is riddled with lethal traps. As fear and distrust swirl around them, the group must work together to survive the sadistic maze.
Original Cube writer-director Vincenzo Natali serves as executive producer on the fresh take on his clever sci-fi horror concept. Yasuhiko Shimizu directs from a script by Kôji Tokuo. Akiko Funatsu (Ichi the Killer) and Satoko Ishida produce. Masaki Suda (Kamen Rider W), Anne Watanabe (Miss Hokusai), Masaki Okada (Drive My Car), Takumi Saitoh (Shin Godzilla), Kôtarô Yoshida, and Hikaru Tashiro star in the darker, deadlier exploration of isolation.
“Vincenzo Natali’s Cube is a modern cult classic that broke new ground with its unique production design and storytelling. This new Japanese experience honors the original and delivers the goods horror fans expect to see. Cube enthusiasts are going to want to solve this puzzle.”
Brad Miska, Managing Director of Bloody Disgusting
