Welcome, weirdos to the BrittNic Creations’ Horror Roundup! Each week I’ll be bringing you some news and products from the horror realm. The topics could include new clips from an upcoming horror film, gothic artwork, unique merchandise, and much more! There’s a mixture of horror goodies for everyone in the weekly Horror Roundup. This will always be a random post. I’d like to think that life and horror aren’t any fun without some absurdity included in them. Now, let’s get to the fun part!
‘Outpost’ Joe Lo Truglio Horror Film Trailer & Release Date
We start this Horror Roundup with a Gravitas Ventures horror film written and directed by Joe Lo Truglio (Brooklyn Nine-Nine). Outpost is approaching its May 19th theatrical and digital release date. Starring Beth Dover, Ato Essandoh, Dylan Baker, Becky Ann Baker, Dallas Roberts, Ta’Rea Campbell, Tim Neff, and D.R. Anderson.
After a violent assault, a woman asks her best friend for help escaping an abusive ex. She’s given a job as a fire lookout in the mountains of northern Idaho, hoping the peaceful solitude will heal her trauma. But the PTSD and isolation have other plans, and it’s suddenly a fight to save herself and the town.
‘Monster Girls’ Documentary Kickstarter
Monster Girls is a documentary in progress that has caught my eye for some time now and I’m finally placing it in a Horror Roundup! A fantastic effort to shed light on the amazing women past and present in the horror industry is a necessary project. Make sure to follow them on their social media accounts to be updated and this unique and worthy documentary that’s now currently in production!
Monster Girls centers on the history and current work of Women in the SFX industry. Told from the perspective of historians, enthusiasts, and Women in the field, the documentary seeks to uncover and promote some of the horror genre’s leading talent.
Seitz has worked in the horror genre since 2002. Her FX work can be seen in films such as Jakob’s Wife, The Third Saturday in October franchise as well as the controversial EGN series. She is the producer of FUKT, the first anthology to center on Women filmmakers who make extreme cinema, and the director of American Guinea Pig: Chum Bucket. Her documentary Beyond Horror: The History and Subculture of Red Films was the recipient of the BEST DIRECTOR 2019 award at the NIGHTMARES FILM FESTIVAL.
Middle of Beyond’s ‘Evil Dead 2’ Tiki Mugs
Combining two of my favorite things, Evil Dead and mugs, the horror brand Middle of Beyond has created a fantastic and creepy tiki mug. I’m still obsessed over the brand’s Twilight Zone holiday sweater, but then again I’m always obsessed with that series. When you have Lee Cronin commenting on your product about how awesome it is, well you’ve made it my friend!
‘Moon Garden’ Poster Reveal & IFC-Center Premiere Date
With one of my favorite recent posters I’ve seen, Moon Garden arrives in this Horror Roundup with a unique vision. Shot on expired 35mm film stock with vintage rehoused lenses, Moon Garden is a fantastical odyssey and a visionary, handcrafted, and fully practical work of art that shows how a child can shine a light even in the darkest places. The film is written and directed by Ryan Stevens Harris. Moon Garden is screening on 35 mm Friday, May 19 & Saturday, May 20 at 7:30 PM at the IFC Center in New York City.
Emma (Haven Lee Harris) is a wide-eyed cherubic only child, stuck in the middle of her parents’ troubled marriage. Her father, Alex (Brionne Davis), is an overworked struggling novelist, while her mother, Sara (Augie Duke), suffers from depression, longing for her lost youth. Both parents care for Emma deeply in their own ways, but cannot hide the reality that their marriage is crumbling.
When Emma has a terrible accident and slips into a coma, she finds herself thrust into a darkly surreal industrial dream world. Haunted by a nightmarish specter that feeds off her tears, she must follow her mother’s radio-static voice to find her way back to consciousness.
‘The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster’ New Poster
Here at Horror Roundup, I love a take on the classic monster movie or Frankenstein. In March, the film premiered at SXSW as a Narrative Feature. This has been Crypt TV‘s first domestic feature film and on June 9, 2023 it will be in theaters, on VOD, and Digital.
Vicaria (Laya DeLeon Hayes) is a brilliant teenager who believes death is a disease that can be cured. After the brutal and sudden murder of her brother, she embarks on a dangerous journey to bring him back to life. Inspired by Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster thematically challenges our ideas of life and death. Bomani J. Story, the film’s writer, and director, crafts a thrilling tale about a family that, despite the terrors of systemic pressure, will survive and be reborn again.
‘Hollywood Dreams & Nightmares: The Robert Englund Story’ Steelbook & Blu-Ray Release
With some fantastic art by Creepy Duck Design, Hollywood Dreams & Nightmares: The Robert Englund Story is arriving as a Steelbook release and a Collector’s Edition Blu-ray on July 25th. Robert Englund is a powerhouse and rightfully his story belongs in this latest Horror Roundup!

The iconic folk horror of 1973’s The Wicker Man is arriving as a “5-disc 4K UHD collector’s edition rigid ‘book’ pop-up packaging, including all 3 cuts of the film restored in 4K.” Horror fans can rejoice with a summer celebration of the film’s 50th anniversary as it hits theaters in the U.K. on June 21, 2023.
