Searchlight Pictures acquired the film following its world premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for Ensemble. The film is part of the SXSW Official Selection in the Narrative Feature section.

In a promotional video about a partnership with the iconic brand, Ben and Noah reflected on their time spent at camp. Noah explained, “When I was younger, candy was currency at camp. So I used to scrounge through my father’s glove compartment for any loose change so that I could buy a big Kit Kat, which was a very important treat.” For the two, candy and summer camp go hand-in-hand.
